Dear Friends,
Why are top reporters prioritizing gossip over global warming?
We need to know the top reporters are going to start taking this election seriously.
Tell Tim Russert and others to stop ignoring global warming (http://action.earthjustice.org/ct/JdAE5Ld1rT_n/whataretheywaitingfor)
Global warming is one of the biggest issues our next president will face. But you wouldn't know it by watching the news.
As the Washington Post reported after the last ABC debate, "Gibson and Stephanopoulos dwelled entirely on specious and gossipy trivia" for the first 52 minutes.
Why are the reporters not asking the candidates to take a stand on the greatest challenge of our time? What are they waiting for?
Click here to tell Stephanopoulos and the other pundits that you care more about global warming than gossip. (http://action.earthjustice.org/ct/JdAE5Ld1rT_n/whataretheywaitingfor)
Out of thousands of questions for the candidates, major political reporters have mentioned the words "global warming" in only 10 all year! Instead we've heard about UFOs, baseball, flag pins, and other gossip.
People are tired of seeing global warming ignored by the media. That's why already in 2008, more than 200,000 people have signed a petition calling on the media to make global warming a priority.
Too many of the debate questions have been a joke. We need tough questions about the real problems we're facing. We need to keep the heat on.
Global warming won't wait for politics -- why should the media wait to ask the candidates about global warming? The time for waiting is long gone. The pundits need to start asking serious questions today.
Click here to sign the petition and send a strong message to the top reporters: Start taking global warming, and this election, seriously. (http://action.earthjustice.org/ct/JdAE5Ld1rT_n/whataretheywaitingfor)
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Gene Karpinski
