I was at work the other day when two coworkers were talking about cars. one of them showed me a picture of an SUV that he was going to buy. i said with disappointment "oh, an SUV. those are so terrible for the environment, they further the war for oil, etc. have you considered a hybrid?" he said "SCREW HYBRIDS!"
i went on to remind him that there's not going to be any earth left for all 11 of the children he wants to have. he went on to tell me that global warming is something that is made up. he tried to justify it by saying that every 400 years, earth goes through a cycle and this is natural, etc.
it's so frustrating and it almost makes me mad that people are so stupid and fail to believe that humans are wasteful. we overuse everything, don't recycle enough, and pollute the environment. and how many billions of people are there in the world? common sense states that what we are doing IS BAD and that the answer is not to say "screw SUVS".. the answer is changing the little things we do and helping others to realize that they can help, too.
so honestly, what can you do about people with this mindset?
