I had the pleasure of meeting up with Bent Left yesterday in Providence and seeing my first show of a hopeful many of the Stay Vocal Or Shut Up Tour. After being held back a bit by traffic, my friend and I made it to Providence, where we met the guys at Spike's. Spike's is an amazing hot dog place (http://www.spikesjunkyarddogs.com). They have over 20 different kinds of dogs you can get, either regular or vegetarian. I opted for the Buffalo Dog and Junkyard Dog, both veggie. I think the guys really enjoyed their first Spike's experience and I highly recommend it to everyone: http://www.spikesjunkyarddogs.com
After our fine dining at Spike's we headed over to Club Hell, in a part of Providence that I've never ventured to. I guess the club is the former Club Babyhead, where I heard many an amazing show went on back in the day. But it closed before I started going to shows. Bummer.

Anyway, there were a lot more bands on the bill than I had expected, but it was alright, as the Bent Left guys had a lot of catching up to do. I also got the pleasure of checking out the van that will soon be converted to veggie fuel and it seems like a great place for the guys to spend the next 6-8 months. The U-Lounge in the back was especially nice. I was nervous their van would be a beater, but it definitely was not the case.http://stayvocal.com/photos/bent-left-stage.jpg
At about 10:30 or so, Bent Left finally took the stage. My friend Julie and I stood up right up front, but neither of us brought earplugs. And man did we need them. Bent Left ripped it last night and my ears are feeling it today. I have only seen them live once or twice before, but I told them that they definitely got ten times better. I don't know how they did it and had time to graduate college with great grades, but they did. I highly recommend checking them out in the next few months. There are a lot of tour dates (http://www.stayvocal.com/event) up and many to be added.
On another note, the Bent Left guys have started filming some videos on the Stay Vocal Or Shut Up tour. (http://youtube.com/profile?user=BENTLEFTandSTAYVOCAL) If you go to any of the shows, be sure to tell them how you stay vocal.
Thanks for listening
