Unfortunately for many of us who want to donate to charities, the old saying is true and "money does not grow on trees." But fortunately, hair does grow on heads.
Some of you may have heard the name "Locks of Love" before. They are "a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. [They] meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics."
Growing your hair and cutting some of it off does not take much effort at all and instead of just throwing the hair out, why not donate it to someone who cannot simply grow their own? There are some guidelines for acceptable donations of course, like hair length, color, etc. A list of guidelines and how to donate can be found on the Locks of Love website. (http://www.locksoflove.org/donate.html)
I'm currently growing my hair out, because really, why not?
